In the late twentieth century, a new type of college-level study emerged; it is the study of religion as it relates to ecology and sociology.

The “Encyclopedia of Religion and Nature”, for example, edited by Jeffrey Kaplan and Bron Taylor (2005): based on examination of premise there IS an environmental crisis and there are “challenges” therefore to world religions and spiritualities in that same “aggravate” the crisis.

A number of secular voices and various faiths’ theologians have not only been regulated or financed by world governments, but by “coincidence” have agreed with them there is a global climate problem including tsunamis and storms caused by doing other than as one’s government says.

Further, a handy double-helixed deus ex machine exists for world leaders to make “eco-necessary” dictations AND sound like everyone is a bin Laden who hugs a tree, opposes New Urbanism, moans they want farms or commerce, and so on.

On one hand, on Weather Channel and assorted hype “cold snaps proving global warming” are occurring “freakishly” in North America during January and similar power-proofs, governments tell us that we will offend all non-Christians for not seeing the sacred equality of us all with animals and trees and the earth we all stand upon; on the other hand, if you’re a Jainist Hindu, you hug trees that government needs to turn into housing or malls, and sound in the fundamentalist Muslim’s view that some places and whole areas are “sacred precincts”…and we all know what kind of religion LADEN claims, you know! What Muslim, Christian, Jew, Buddhist, Hindu, atheist, whoever, dares want to sass their Mayor or government? Christmas too antagonizes: why, how can “The Christmas Song”, “White Christmas”, “Frosty The Snowman”, or even St. Nicholas…all so old and showing cold in the northern hemisphere during January and December through their verses…NOT antagonize subliminally against “global warming proved by cold snaps”?

Worse, non-Christian governments assert Christians are “racist, antagonistic” against them as most traditional Christian strands see a detachment of the soul and world which recognizes ecology but not at the expense of humanity, while “everyone else” claims it’s a blessing on the soul or appeasement of Heaven or the Universe to do or have done unto them as government directs in the name of ecology.  

Or so STATE versions today read. But even so, in the case of bin Laden types, their ace-in-the-hole “reason” ‘for sure’ to want to hit the world from now until the stars burn out is the fundamentalist Islamic belief that interest charges are a great blasphemy against Allah’s will; notice Ladenists and similar don’t even care about MUSLIM sacred precincts, and (e.g., Iran) support infanticide and population control in opposition to Mohammed himself. No, Laden is out there to be labeled “Islamic” but for the purpose of refining separate “eco-terrorism” and “religious antagonisms”…and net no-strings bank for Pakistan, Syria, and others.

Could be why on the hand so many pols and bailed-outs insist the earth will never pave over/build housing upon enough of the earth’s surface to assure us occupations and rights as we knew them for millennia will never return as doing so “hurt the earth” and invited tsunamis and storms and such, and on the other the same mouths tell us we’ve got to build/pave more BECAUSE of tsunamis, quakes, storms, and winter “cold snaps”.

Whatever’s going on with world economies, there seems no credibility to the notion monoculturalism as it now stands is in the noble cause of protecting religions, protecting the environment, or fighting against Islamic terrorism.
