A lot of pundits in media and politics today are being cited in emails to my inbox today, particularly in those emails in the Social Conservative or Neocon niche of the political spectrum; apparently, Neocons of every stripe are saying Black Friday is a boon to the economy even if all it does is wind up being a one-day grab for deep discounts; they're worried about DOMA being repealed by Obama and gays being more included in society; union wages are all that's crippling the auto industry against well-off population in general; union acts in Congress are unnecessary; and my personal favorite, that even Katrina/Rita/tornado survivors, as well as those losing jobs or caught up in mortgage fiascos or forced to live in family homes, are to be conflated into one stereotypical mass of homeless all being narcotic-using dregs we're all better off without and who somehow threaten our freedom ( as Jack Paar said, "I kid you not"...see what GOPUSA has been flying at
http://www.gopusa.com/commentary/tsowell/2008/ts_12021.shtml ).
Then of course Neocons and those representing the lay members of faith-funded religions are bent out of shape over allegations the new history of religion in the USA Capitol has been "sterilized" and "whitewashed"; I respectfully remind them, however, that just because Calvinism, and its "many even good people and socially constructive people just are pre-destined to damnation so let 'em be slaves or permanent private prisoners" philosophy, is required to receive government funds without which "God's Chosen Clergy" would starve despite their own claims God saves His true own, depictions which may indicate to the contrary in American history does not make such exhibits "PC".
I could say that gays won't be any more likely to enter marriages with heterosexuals if the Defense of Marriage Act is abolished, so it's highly unlikely straight men or women will be mistaken as possibly gay if married, so why isolate people born gay (as even the staunchest religious objector can't offer biological proof some people AREN'T born gay) just because you fear the NEA telling your minor children to experiment right now with homosexuality...see, even Neocons fund such NEA stuff because they feel it will speak to faith-funded laities whose preachers assure them no one's BORN gay, thus creating panic over children being "taught" into being gay; then, the Neocons hope to build homophobia as a "real America issue" based purely off hot air and deception...and keep their candidates in so the status quo, quite profitable for them if not many others, sits just as it is: "We'd vote fer change, but thet thar feller doesn't hate gays so fer our young'uns sake we jus' CAIN'T vote fer 'em...better off broke or starved than light in yer loafers!".
Rather than take Neocon spin as something more than pure PSYOPS to make you think someone watching you sink has thrown you other than anchors, I suggest auto-palaver...Left, Right, or Center...not even be allowed to rise to the "dignity" of wedge issues before an Obama and Democrat government has even official been Inaugurated; that includes social doodle fretting by some Liberals that Obama laughing off his earlier criticism of Hillary Clinton is worrisome; he may not want to trample rights, he may just have meant that in his own opinion, he was of somehow even slightly better credentials or accumen for PRESIDENT, but believes Hillary deserves to be in near line of succession and can handle the tasks befalling a Secretary of State...she IS a good heat-taker as well as server.
Let's give Obama and Congress a chance, and assume that the GOP for now caters after only those rarified recipients of bailouts and similar corporate or religious welfares, so of course they'll auto-slam anything to keep anything from changing a whit.
