All this year through the Summer adjournment, all we heard was somewhere between 11%-22% of USA residents approved of Congressional proposals and acta cumulatively made since the 2006 elections, especially those from Fall 2007 into this Spring; since this Summer, all we hear is the public's opinion on the dreams of McCain and Obama...literally as if no other Federal offices were up for election, or as if a President is a monarch to whom Congress are mere epigoni, unless of course the President is always right he acts with Congress' applause for doing their will...oh, this Constitutional duty dancing stuff is so tricky.
Actually, a number of Senate seats are up, and so is the entire House as it is every two years since 1789, and no President truly ever could do anything without their bicameral assent.
Enough Democrats and GOP having always tacked themselves onto every proposal or passed agenda, maybe, just maybe, a good debate question for McCain and Obama would be: "Do you think staying the course of the current and last decade's Congresses would help or hinder you in bringing your promises into reality?".
Might even be a good poll question. After all, looking at the merely LATEST market fiasco through which another industry is nationalized on ruse of "sudden shock crisis", either Congress has no interest in what we all think to be jobs and commerce, or the agenda proposed was upon Congressional assent to intent economic downturns occur occasionally to "leave people now no choice" other than to Socialize or nationalize everything and everyone as the cure...that is, letting us sleep while with all awarenesses of what will happen later on, Federal/local governments and orthodox businesses paid for their snafus with what's not there today, causing appearance of "instant crisis", ala stimulus money borrowed from future refunds here today and gone ever-after...as the money supply in public hands for saving and credit-paying stays flat; sort of backdoor Socialism and martial powers as all is and are nationalized with no particular reason except tour de force.
As it is, even things like "no more debit cards to post office boxes!" or "no certain religious television!", yadda yadda, on grounds of "national security", are confusing; do such bans actually enhance security or just drive profits to higher-priced providers; you can still anonymously buy debit cards at any store or gas station or currency exchange, except for an extra purchase fee; and where one Christian television network provided free to cable systems and which pay cable no air fees is yanked, a lot of others stay on because they pay...see where my confusion is?
Really, is the goal truly Socialism, or just a land where everyone is permanently a nationalized asset with no particular rights fighting no particular enemy? BRAC and recruiting office closures confuse the kaleidoscopic "wars on___" even more.
