Biden Partition Resolution Undercuts Troops And Diplomacy.

I was asked for my opinion re the Biden partition Iraq sense of the Senate resolution that recently passed; within would be my comments.

On the one hand, not very long before the Biden resolution, the Senate condemned MoveOn.org for attacking General Petraeus; on the other, a resolution was passed reaffirming the position of his enemies in chief, a notion that the USA is a 1960's-style industrial-military behemoth with more military than the world has ever seen and is trying to unilaterally arrange Iraq and all nations to its liking and for its own enrichment on the bones of the conquered, as stepping stone to world domination.

That is the impression Osama bin Laden, Mymood Alibabajihad, and in fact most Islamic terrorists and supporters thereof espouse, and without much evidence thereof look the buffoons they are...dries up recruitment efforts better than even Wes Clark could pick them off.

It is a quizzical stance...in absence of Iraq's own government demanding partition or ANY change from present form, and assenting to Petraeus' successes...stepping up and saying "Bush lies, he serves the Congress and IT demands Iraq will be set to its exclusive superpower tune and as spoils of war even if the same some speaking also say no reason to go existed but why NOT partake".

Perhaps some mean to say Petraeus and our troops are so good and solid nothing can shake them from Laden land, should Qaeda draw more fighters or Iran robustly join in as Bush defends self-determination; yet others must know that anything that on top of Qaeda and Iran's President, telling Iraqis they will be treated as spoils of war once Bush is gone has GOT to undermine what our troops fought and died for, Petraeus secured, and our State Department attempts to nurture, in that even sans external combatants it might roil diverse Iraqis themselves.

For these reasons, I would respectfully submit that the relevant sense of Senate text be amnended to more clearly connote it is the sense of the Senate the President be directed to ask Iraq's sovereign government what form of nation it pursues under its own laws, and that once of proper record the President give all reasonable aid and accomodation; at present, it looks like that's what President Bush HAS been doing yet is being called a troop waster and swaggering Hitlerian annexation fiend by some.
